Sealed and checked

Every Universe Credit entry is fingerprinted and sealed into a numbered group, a proof epoch. Each seal also fingerprints every wallet balance and checks that the total supply adds up. You can check the seals here yourself: the checking runs in your own browser.

This page shows fingerprints (hashes) and the economy's totals only. It never shows amounts of single entries, wallets or people.

How the check works

Each ledger entry's fingerprint is SHA-256 of the previous fingerprint of the same account and the entry's fields, so changing or removing any entry breaks every later fingerprint. A seal's Merkle root combines the fingerprints of its entries; its state root combines every wallet balance. The seal's own fingerprint covers all of this, the totals, the policy in force and the previous seal's fingerprint, back to the first seal (genesis).

Your browser downloads a seal's entry fingerprints, rebuilds the Merkle root, recomputes the seal's fingerprint, checks that minted minus burned equals the total supply and that the parts add up to it, and follows the link to the previous seal. The JSON download is the exact document checked. The format is described in docs/UC-PROOF.md of the platform's source.
